PALER, STILL

by Oonagh Wall (written in collaboration with the company)

Nothing grows in Dublin anymore.
Concrete, glass and grey. The landscape is the same everywhere.
Beyond the Pale, in the rural Irish boglands, an abandoned Hotel rots.
This would be a safe place to stagnate.
Or so it seems.

Set in a near-future where the Western World has eaten itself into anonymity and another recession: Paler, Still is a new dramatic-comedy and is anseo|anois theatre’s debut production.

Directed by Jack Reardon

Starring Amy Kidd

KNACKERED

by Oonagh Wall

The small village of Dunabree is a peaceful place.

The people here are harmless, sure in a tight-knit community like this one you have to look out for your own. Peaceful law-abiding people who wouldn't hurt a fly, who know their place, who toe the line. A criminal investigation has no place here, surely…

But who knows what happened at Kelly's pub that night, and who'll be the first to tell?

KNACKERED was presented as part of the StageOnScreen Festival (SOS Fest) by The Main Theatre (LA, USA). Originally written for the stage, this production was adapted for Zoom due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Directed by Katie O’Halloran

Featuring: Amy Kidd
Éanna Grogan

KEEPING VIGIL

by Oonagh Wall

Death is life’s inevitably fatal conclusion.

In the process of tearing us apart does death still possess the power to bring us back together?

Three old friends are reunited in their rural Irish hometown on the eve of a funeral.

Within the Irish Catholic tradition, the night before the funeral, selected members of the family must stay awake during the night to keep watch over the body.

With self-conscious introspection and acerbic wit, Keeping Vigil explores the intertwined nature of death and tradition which still permeates rural Ireland today.

Starring: Adam Richardson

“I’ve grown accustomed to the tricks and traps of theatre made for digital consumption, but I find anseo|anois‘s manipulation of the form particularly impressive.”

“Oonagh Wall’s script laces the bittersweet reunion of three childhood chums with poignant subtleties and familiar miscommunications.”

“Excellently cast. The comfort and chemistry between Amy Kidd, Éanna Grogan, and Adam Richardson sustain the magic of Keeping Vigil.”
